Michelin Man

MICHELIN MAN/stained glass window/Bibendum man/yellow brick road/Michelin tyres

This set of four panels for a front door screen were commissioned for a private residence on Jersey.

The remit was “a humorous image of the Bibendum man”, (Michelin Man).

After several sketches and consultations with the client this was the final design. Having four panels presented the problem of which panel should he be in, and how to link them all together. So, it was decided to have four Michelin Men and create a Michelin dog (just for fun). They are linked together by the Yellow brick road, the fields and trees at the bottom, and the sky in the background.

There are some interesting cut shapes in the panels, and because the White glass that was used for the Michelin man bodies was opaque, the detail had to be painted on both sides, so that the image is equally visible from both sides.
