Queen Elizabeth celebration window. Grouville Parish church. Jersey. C.I.
This window was created to replace a damaged clear window, The window is unusual in that it is very narrow and tall. In order to fill the window in a balanced composition it was designed to have four small medallions depicting The Grouville Parish crest, The Royal crest, The Queens Orb, and a portrait of the Queen. The grape vine in the background symbolises the growth of life.
The technique of painting with coloured enamels, though not often used these days was chosen to avoid too much leadwork spoiling the delicacy of the design.
