It is framed in a hand made Oak frame which measures 61 cm X 120 cm. It is painted in the Victorian style, possibly by the Jersey artist Henry Thomas Bosdet, who has many windows acros the island. Flora & Pomona.
This fantastic pair of large stained glass windows Depicts “Flora & Pomona”. They measure 60 cm X 173 cm each.
They date from about 1910, painted in an Pre-Raphaelite, or Arts and crafts vernacular. The panels are in good general condition and have been encapsulated inside a double glazed unit of toughened glass for protection, and ease of transportation.
The superb quality of the painting is exquisite. I can honestly say that in over thirty five years of working in stained glass, and visiting countless churches and cathedrals, I have never ever seen such quality of painting. The expression on the faces, and skin tone are so delicate . The detail on the robes is also remarkable. The features of the faces resemble the work of Henry Holiday, who replaced Edward Burne-Jones, at the William Morris studios, but unfortunately, they are not signed, so this is open to debate.
These panels currently adorn either side of a set of double doors of a Billiard room at a Manor in France. They would look stunning either side of a front door to a large Victorian style residence.
